2005 Chapelle Chambertin, Jadot (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 189.95

92-95 points Tanzer: "Good red-ruby. Sappy, pungent aromas of black cherry and minerals. Sweet and creamy, with lovely lift to the pungent red cherry flavor. Very young but already boasts superb mouth coverage. The very long finish features suave, fine-grained tannins."

2005 Charmes Chambertin, Geantet-Pansiot, 750 ml - 189.99

94 points Parker's WA: "From a rocky, thinly-soiled spot in the ?true? Charmes (rather than the sometimes equally grand but distinctive Mazoyeres that can also be sold as ?Charmes?), the Geantet-Pansiot 2005 Charmes Chambertin delivers a lovely meld of bright cherry, beef marrow, cocoa powder, and chalk. A typically sleek, polished, long-lined performance for this appellation at its best, this isn?t a wine with lots of nooks and crannies. There is a superb sweetness and clarity of finishing fruit along with a vibrant if hard to describe mineral note."

2002 Musigny, Jadot (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 399.00

94-97 Tanzer: "Deep red-ruby. Wonderfully ripe, deep nose combines raspberry, blood orange and enticing oak scents. Rich, suave, round and compellingly sweet; at once powerful and seamless. Like a bon-bon in the mouth, and further sweetened by high-quality oak. A great wine in the making. But a bit less austere and gripping today than the Bonnes-Mares or Clos de Beze, suggesting that it will approach peak drinkability earlier (say eight years from now, vs. a solid decade for the other two bottlings)."

1999 Romanee St Vivant Magnum, Jadot, 1.5 L - 499.99

2004 Griottes Chambertin, Roty (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 159.99

92 points Tanzer: "Good full red. Inviting, expressive nose features dark cherry, licorice, iron, black pepper and roasted herbs. Dense and sappy; less powerful than the Mazis but intense, sappy and aromatic, with excellent lift from the pepper and spice elements. The Rotys carried out a green harvest here, but not in their Charmes-Chambertin parcel. Finishes with excellent length. I love this bracing style. Very 2004 but in need of patience."

2006 Nuits St Georges Vaucrains, Chevillon (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 79.99

91-94 points Burghound: "A brooding and much more reserved nose is densely fruited with notes of plum, blueberry, earth and a subtle sauvage hint that mouth coating and impressively concentrated flavors that positively explode on the gorgeously long finish. As it always is, this is a big and powerful wine yet with a bit more elegance than usual. Terrific and potentially the class of the range in 2006. (91-94)/2016+"

2005 Gevrey Cazetiers, Faiveley, 750 ml - 89.95

91-93 points Burghound: "Background notes of toasty oak and wood spice set off densely fruited dark berry and pungent earth aromas that complement perfectly the suave and exceptionally rich and surprisingly forward medium full flavors that tighten up quickly on the firm structured and highly complex finish that goes on and on. This is not head and shoulders above the Combe Aux Moines but there is another dimension of depth present. (91-93)/2015+."

2005 Volnay Caillerets Ancienne 1/2, Bouchard, 375 ml - 49.99

'94 points Burghound: "Well integrated wood sets off the violet and blackberry suffused nose that is both elegant and exceptionally pure, complementing the detailed, minerally and balanced flavors that are supple, sweet and intense, all wrapped in a wonderfully concentrated and hugely long finish. This has that ?wow? factor as it positively explodes in the mouth with a palate coating texture. 94/2013+"

2005 Volnay Clos de Chenes, Jadot, 750 ml - 55.00

86-89 points Tanzer: "Palish medium red. Scented nose combines redcurrant, spices and leather, all lifted by a mineral pungency. Sweet, spicy and on the light side, with good spicy, floral lift. Not especially dense or fleshy today but finishes with good aromatic persistence."

2002 Bonnes Mares, Roumier, 750 ml - 799.99

96+ points Tanzer: "Medium red. Great nose combines raspberry, minerals, rose petal, peony and white pepper. Like an essence of Chambolle in the mouth, offering an uncanny combination of sweetness and thrust. Wonderfully flowery, delineated and gripping. Explosive finishing flavors convey a powerful impression of soil. All of Roumier's Bonnes-Mares is in Chambolle, but the vines are planted about 50/50 on white and red soil. A complete Burgundy , and a no-brainer. One of my early candidates for wine of the vintage."

2003 Bonnes Mares, Jadot (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 299.95

98 points Rovani: "Unquestionably one of the vintage?s finest wines, Jadot?s 2003 Bonnes Mares bursts with roses, violets, cassis liqueur, and black cherries. Armed with magnificent depth, concentration, and extraction, this full-bodied beauty expands on the palate to reveal oodles of black cherries slathered in chocolate. Its finish, which lasts for a minute, reveals additional layers of jammy fruit as well as loads of sweet, round tannin. Though immensely ripe and low in acidity, this gem has the profundity of fruit and structure for considerable cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2022+."

2005 Nuits Les Chaignots, Alain Michelot, 750 ml - 59.95

89-92 points Burghound: "Mild reduction detracts only slightly from the red and black pinot fruit aromas nuanced by spicy earth notes that continue onto the very structured tannins that are firm and serious and stop just short of being aggressive yet there is better mid-palate concentration that does a better job of buffering them. This is long and strong and is very Nuits yet with a touch more refinement than the Porrets. (89-92)/2013+"

2005 Beaune Greves Magnum, Potel, 1.5 L - 69.99

92 points Parker's WA: "Potel?s 2005 Beaune Greves ? from vines planted in 1904 ? offers aromas of distilled plum, violet, and ocean breeze, a palate with the same silkiness as the Teurons, mingling plum, floral inner-mouth perfume, and pan drippings, and superb length of chalk, salt and meat reduction."

2005 Volnay V.V. Magnum, Potel, 1.5 L - 55.00

90 points Tanzer: "Good dark red. Subdued aromas of ripe plum and chocolate, with a hint of surmaturite Broad, sweet and harmonious, with lush plum, mocha and leather flavors enlivened by sound acidity. With aeration, a lively floral nuance emerged and the wine gained substantially in vinosity. The youthful, rising finish features fresh flavors of sour cherry and minerals. Good, honest, flavorful village wine with a suave character."

Silky and refined in texture, this is one of those Pinots that takes you far away from mere fruits and berries, offering a fascinating, exceptionally long finish melding meat and mineral."

2005 Volnay Clos des Chenes, Potel (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 59.99

90 points Parker's WA: "A 2005 Volnay Clos de Chenes displays a sour cherry and cinnamon aroma, a correspondingly tart, bright and pungent palate, underlying meat stock, overt chalkiness, and impressive density. Rather grainy in texture, the fruit seems slightly blocked by the tannins in this wine?s finish, which however exhibits plenty of brown spice and chalky minerality. This may well need a bit more time to recover from bottling as its ripeness, structure, liveliness, and sheer concentration are not in question."

2005 Beaune No 11 V.V., Laurent (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 22.99

88-90 points Tanzer: "(includes a good bit of premier cru juice) Red-ruby. Classic Beaune aromas of black cherry and leather. Then tightly wound, peppery and backward, with excellent flavor intensity but a rather dominant structure today. This closed, powerful wine is in a distinctly tougher, Pommard-like style. Finishes with rough tannins."

2005 Gevrey Cazetiers V.V., Laurent, 750 ml - 69.99

Laurent: "The 80 years old Vines have given a Wine that is fat, chocolate flavoured, yet refined. With its congenital cocoa point and its full body - very black small Pinots with a thick and hard skin -, the Wine progresses in simplicity with each Vintage. Here is a Wine which does not like being opened too early."

2005 Corton Clos des Cortons, Faiveley (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 219.99

94-96 points Burghound: "Allow me to cut through everything else and bluntly state that the ?05 Clos des Corton Faiveley is quite simply the best young example of this wine that I have ever had the privilege of evaluating. A richly and densely fruited nose that is at once earthy and quite animale along with breathtaking complexity complements to perfection the big, rich and sleekly muscled flavors that are very firmly structured but again, not at all aggressive and the sheer depth of material on the palate-drenching finish is nothing short of phenomenal. To be sure, this is not and will not be a wine for even the moderately impatient and I?m not completely sure that 15 years will be sufficient to really see it at its best to buy it only with the (resolute) intention to allow it a long and comfortable cellar snooze. Remarkable. (94-96)/2020+"

2006 Clos de la Roche V.V. 3 Liter, Ponsot (pre-arrival), 3 L - 1499.00

93-96 points Tanzer: "Good full ruby-red. Incredible nose melds wild cherry, mocha, brown spices, iron, orange peel and underbrush. Like liquid silk on entry, then hugely concentrated in the middle, with an extraordinarily fine-grained texture and no easy sweetness. Impeccably balanced, soil-driven wine that finishes with noble tannins and great persistence. This is Clos de la Roche, not pinot. As of November, one of the most promising wines of this stealth vintage."

2005 Nuits Richemone, Perrot Minot, 750 ml - 249.95

94-95 points Parker's WA: "From 65-year-old vines in a crowded, high elevation ?sweet spot?, surrounded by Damodes, Cras, Murgers, and Chaignots, with an altitude and exposition like that of La Tache (says Perrot-Minot) and not far south of the Vosne line and Les Malconsorts, the 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges La Richemone Vieilles Vignes was still in cask when I tasted it. Plum cake, blond tobacco, musk, and brown spices in the nose lead to a juicy, sleek, refined (though abundantly tannic), sweetly black cherry-fruited palate with spice inflections and mysterious meatiness indeed worthy of a top-flight Vosne cru. This finishes with irresistibly fat, flattering fruity intensity and brown spices. The roots go deep into the mother chalk ? as Perrot-Minot illustrates by means of a soil cross-section ? and the same can be said of the wine?s finish."

2005 Clos de Beze, Bouchard (pre-arrival), 750 ml - 550.00

94-97 points Burghound: "A spicy and ripe nose of stupendous breadth and depth is framed in obvious toast that continues onto the supple, rich, textured and bigboned flavors that are borderline massive yet the focus, detail and harmony of expression all retain admirable clarity and purity. Another one of those ?wow? wines as the intensity of the flavors etch themselves onto the palate and the finale positively explodes. Be aware that this will require plenty of cellar time to come around. (94-97)/2020+"

2005 Volnay les Pitures, Bitouzet-Prieur, 750 ml - 45.00

89-92 points Burghound: "A beautiful array of red berry fruit and hints of spice, earth and crushed herb complements the intensely mineral flavors that are linear and detailed on the decidedly structured finish. I was a bit surprised that the tannins are less refined than I would have expected and while this is by no means rustic, it is less sophisticated than usual. Perhaps this will change with time in bottle? (89-92)/2015+"

2003 Charmes Chambertin, Bachelet, 750 ml - 159.95

91-93 points Burghound: "Curiously for a Bachelet wine, this displays a fair amount of wood, in fact to the point that one might worry about it except that the flavors are so incredibly dense and concentrated that it should be capable of absorbing it. The nose is wonderfully complex and remains elegant and impressively pure and the length here is phenomenal. First rate though this will require some time to fully harmonize."

2005 Morey Cuvee Alouettes, Ponsot, 750 ml - 125.00

90-93 points Burghound: "This is very ripe, indeed so ripe that it stops just short of surmaturité yet the jammy aromas of black cherry and raspberry remain fresh and bright, leading to mouth coating and exceptionally rich and velvety flavors that are quite forward but are supported by almost invisible tannins underneath all of the palate saturating sap. This has grand cru size and weight yet this is a harmonious and balanced effort. Very impressive. (90-93)/2013+"

2005 Corton Pougets, d'Ardhuy, 750 ml - 64.99

90-92 points Burghound: "Moderate reduction makes the nose tough to read clearly though there are reserved but discernable notes of earth, spice and plum. Despite the funk on the nose, the mineral-infused flavors are cool and very fresh with an elegant and mouth coating mouth feel, all wrapped in a sappy finish that displays buried tannins and excellent length. This is very firmly structured and will require ample cellar time. (90-92)/2017+"

2004 Clos de la Roche Magnum, Lignier, 1.5 L - 289.95

93 points Tanzer: "Good saturated deep red. Highly aromatic nose combines red fruits, spices and minerals; perfumed and high-toned. Rich, lush, broad and sweet but with harmonious balancing acids keeping it firm and youthful. Boasts a silky texture and the best volume and persistence of these '04s. Tannins are sweet. A terrific showing today, but give this five years of aging."
